It's possible that Division 2 may not continue using seasonal characters.

The Division 2 receives some attention, while not being nearly as well-liked as, example, Destiny 2. Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment recently revealed that Division 2 will transition to time-limited seasonal characters for advancement, thereby adopting the Diablo 4 seasonal model. Unpopular decision.

Players in Division 2 were naturally upset to learn that they would no longer be able to advance their Agents via seasonal content when the news was announced. Rather, in order to advance, they would have to depend on seasonal personalities, leaving heritage Agents to sulk in antiquated material. Thankfully, Massive Entertainment has said that it will "re-evaluate Seasons 2.0 with particular attention to Seasonal Characters with the goal of progressing without them," suggesting that the company has at least partially taken the fans' criticism to heart.

The Division 2 developer is thinking twice about bringing in seasonal characters for a short time

.

While this is clearly fantastic, I think it's important to consider the exact words used by Massive Entertainment. The feature is just being re-evaluated, so it's possible that it doesn't really go anywhere in the end. The studio didn't explicitly say in its release that it would eliminate seasonal characters or make them optional.

It's unfortunate as well since, despite the lack of new content currently accessible in The Division 2, the new Seasons 2.0 revamp does look genuinely exciting, and the new seasonal character concept knocked the wind out of its sails. As stated in the statement, "This change will not affect the previously announced Year 6 plans, but it will require us to evaluate the required modifications to the new Seasonal Experience, which will be merged with Year 6 Season 2 this fall.”

Fans should definitely remain tuned for further details as the developer works out what works and what doesn't with the new approach. It is definitely wonderful news that Massive has promised that this information would be disclosed with a livestream and tested in a public test server after that.

Ultimately, it is difficult to predict what will happen to The Division 2 in the future. While the game has been steadily advancing in the background and lasting way longer than some of its most notable rivals, Ubisoft doesn't seem to know what to do with it moving forward. The Brooklyn DLC is still a mystery, and a true sequel isn't even planned yet. I guess time will tell.
