Limited Run Games revealed during the LRG3 webcast that they would be combining the two Fighting Force games into a compilation. It is scheduled to arrive in 2024.
Recall Fighting Force? In 1997, the first one was made available. It is said that Core Design presented it to Sega as Streets of Rage 3D for the Saturn. Sega decided against it. Because of this, it was only ever released on the PS1 and N64, not even on the Saturn.
It's enjoyable. It is quite slack. This was just another example of how poorly I believe people at the time understood how to create beat-'em-ups in three dimensions. There were more than just fistfights going on. A lot of guns. To be honest, I believe that its whole feel is what makes it so memorable. Its look has a really metropolitan sense, which I like. I seem to remember that the most peculiar aspect of it was that players had limited continues and lives. A bit of a drag, really. On the PS1 and Dreamcast, Fighting Force 2 was the next game. This one is less recognizable to me since I had an N64 when I was younger. In the last several years, I've been very close to purchasing the Dreamcast version. The little video I've seen of it takes place in a military installation, unlike the original game. And it's only one player—what the hell? It's unclear if the Dreamcast, PS1, or both versions are included of the collection. According to appearances, it's PS1.I give up. Though I have enough nostalgia for the period, they are definitely not excellent games. I suppose I'm expressing that I'm prepared to give it another go and that I really want to enjoy them.In 2025, Fighting Force Collection will be released.
