Summer break for students
Publisher WayForward revealed some fresh details about its skull-cracking brawler River City Girls 2 at yesterday's thrilling Nintendo Indie World Showcase. In addition to a hip new teaser that shows our little fighters in action, we also heard some sick new music and were given a summer 2022 release timeframe.
Fans of River City Girls will be able to see final boss Sabuko, looking a bit worse for wear and taking a limo ride from an unknown stranger, even though narrative specifics are still extremely vague. I doubt Sabuko will take her ass-kicking lightly since she is a committed crime-lord; instead, we may see her return and go on a vengeance mission. I really hope Sabuko returns for the sequel since she's a terrific character and one of the many amazing bosses from the first game, even if it's only to be the victim of some brand-new combination madness.
The six playable characters in RCG 2 are also seen in the teaser. Naturally, series veterans Kunio and Riki, as well as newcomers Marian, a former Double Dragon damsel who now owns incredible abs, and streetwise ass-kicker Provie, who fans will recognize from the stylish 2017 release River City Ransom: Underground, are present and correct alongside our gals Kyoko and Misako. In River City Girls 2, the six main characters will go on more jaw-dropping exploits across the dangerous 'berg, using new tools, strategies, and manoeuvres to lay down the law on a swarm of new and resurfacing adversaries. You won't have to tackle it alone since online co-op has been confirmed.
Everything seems to be really intriguing; you don't need to pitch me twice. Oh, and don't forget to bump up the volume to hear composer Megan McDuffee's incredible new direction.
In the summer of 2022, the PlayStation, PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch platforms will see the release of River City Girls 2. Moreover, early in 2022, the Nintendo Switch will get the vintage remaster of River City Girls Zero, with additional platforms to follow.
