The much anticipated Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was ultimately unveiled by Nintendo during their June 2024 Nintendo Direct. As in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, I was thrilled to see Samus Aran thrust once again into an active warzone with a dynamic landscape being destroyed all around her.
But Sylux, who seems to have evolved into this universe's version of Thanos, was something I wasn't prepared for.
In Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, who is Sylux?
Character-wise, Sylux isn't very well-known from the primary Metroid Prime games. His debut was in Metroid Prime Hunters for the Nintendo DS, when he joined five other bounty hunters in answering a request to locate the ultimate weapon in a forgotten space sector. That same power ultimately turned all five bounty hunters into a formidable boss that Samus had to vanquish.Sylux has been lurking in the series' background since his loss. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was his next appearance. The finale of the game, if you succeed in finishing it to 100%, has a spacecraft that seems to be Sylux's following Samus Aran.In Metroid Prime: Federation Force, finallyThe game's epilogue, , features a Sylux-like shoulder-like figure hatching a Metroid egg. Naturally, the dangers to the cosmos that the whole series is named for are the Metroids. To keep even more evil aliens in check, they were made to destroy whole planets and ecosystems.
In Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, what role does Sylux play?
.Although not much is known about Sylux, we do know that he despises both the Federation and Samus Aran, a bounty hunter who regularly finds herself assisting them. That makes it understandable why he would pursue both in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, although he is portrayed in the teaser as if he were the Thanos of this world. In addition to the Space Pirates, the primary antagonists from the Metroid series, we also see Sylux appear with a few real Metroids. This indicates that Sylux has managed to win over this terrible extraterrestrial species. When combined with the Space Pirates' overwhelming might, he has more than enough strength to retaliate against the universe's lone force for peace.Sylux isn't going to take a glove and snap people out of existence, unlike Thanos. He is a power-hungry creature. With Metroids as his pets and the Space Pirates under his control, he is now craving more. Since all villains have a covert final goal, I believe his weapon holds the key to unlocking his ultimate scheme.Sylux employs the Shock Coil in Metroid Prime Hunters, a weapon that depletes the health of its opponent while replenishing Sylux's. One may claim that it's comparable to Phazon and Dark Samus, who would suck up before fighting. Even Samus's usage of Phazon to gain the strength to battle Dark Samus has been shown to us.Sylux is interested in obtaining Phazon, a massive source of power. If Sylux could master it, it would make him the supreme being. greater in strength than Dark Samus. As of right now, Nintendo has planned Metroid Prime 4: Beyond to feature a grander narrative than any of the other entries in the series. Sylux and his group of the darkest nightmares of the Federation are giving this battle their all. This indicates that their objective is worth sacrificing everything for, and I'm excited to see Sylux pull off the big surprise just when we believe we have him figured out, opening the door for all of our bounty hunters to intervene and use our own Metroid Prime version of Avengers: Endgame against him.
