The highly regarded role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV. Have you heard of it, perhaps? It's a gigantic project with a vast following that spans years and expansions, as well as incredible comeback tales.
I first wrote about Final Fantasy XIV about this time last year. Echoes in two tones that tumble over time
I'm not really into MMOs, so I wasn't sure what to anticipate going into A Realm Reborn. I've given a couple a go here and there, but they weren't my thing. There was something uninteresting about shuffling to and fro while standing there and hitting single skills from a vast vocabulary of skills spread out in front of me.
Interestingly, Final Fantasy XIV doesn't veer too far from that. The majority of my battles involve using my talents in succession, piling up damage, and avoiding the ominous puddles as they appear. I was astonished by how quickly I felt like I was getting to the fun stuff throughout my year of XIV .
My Lancer quickly began to provide me with interesting possibilities to do additional damage by keeping up a predetermined combination and using good placement. Before long, I was switching between combinations, using one for its effects and damage boost and another for its increased damage output. I was granted a ton of Jumps to include into my cycle after I defeated Dragoon, so I worked to locate little gaps where I could increase my damage.
I had the impression that everything was gradually imparted to me. I seldom got lost while running content or felt the need to look up what a mechanic accomplished.

It is advantageous thatFinal Fantasy XIV is one of the most supportive groups I've ever seen in a game, for the most part. Not that I haven't seen any hurtful or offensive content. However, it's been a complete exception to the normally overwhelmingly positive tone; instead of bringing each other down in irritation, most gamers choose to laugh together, help novices, wait patiently for those who are watching cutscenes, and pardon faults. Instead than running for each other's throats after an encounter, it's truly exhilarating to see everyone laugh and joke about it.
There is more to the game and community than simply quests and fighting. While there are many opportunities for sophisticated combat, there is also a ton of Final Fantasy XIV available if you really want to go for glory.must be observed that incorporates additional skills. With some Animal Crossing vibes, players may farm, craft, and build their own island in the Island Sanctuary, which was introduced last year.
In-depth mining and crafting are available to Disciples of the Land and Hand, who may also benefit from it and get personalized tale material. I've just recently started fishing, but I really like it. Discovering fresh fishing holes enables me to revisit previous locations for fresh places, and going on ocean fishing expeditions, or nautical raids as I like to call them, is a lot of fun. And there's the Golden Saucer waiting for when all that labor becomes tiresome.
Not even the player-created adventures are included in it. I've gone to meet-ups and conferences inside the game. I once stood in line for the grand opening of a nightclub where gamers danced as a DJ streamed their performance on Twitch. For some reason, I ended myself at a fight club. It had the upper hand.

But it doesn't mean the primary plot isn't interesting either. When taken as a whole, the narrative of Final Fantasy XIVmay be one of my all-time favorite video game storylines.A World ResurrectedIt has a sluggish beginning but builds up to a solid world-building and basis, with some excellent storylines tucked away in side missions and other activities.
Naturally, Heavensward then shows up and shatters the doors.Stormblood seems like a narrative from the Tactics period, mostly eschewing the typical villains in favor of a sobering and poignant account of decades of strife and bloodshed. After that, Endwalker weaves everything together and turns the wheel in the other way with a really amazing campaign that is certainly my favorite of them all. These are the Shadowbringers.
In 2022, I completed all of them in a marathon sprint that I think would have made Hironobu Sakaguchi, the developer of Final Fantasy , pleased. In between, I took on more narrative material and conducted raids, switching between high-end stuff and interesting side quests that broadened the game's scope. I transformed my Warrior of Light into a new character via Fantasia, giving them the impression of being the protagonist of my own JRPG that I've guided through every expansion. (Don't worry, I still have my reliable retainer from my first, hurriedly constructed Geralt knockoff.) My time has been consumed by Triple Triad, and I'm just now beginning to explore some of the Extreme stuff.
Go forward
It seems like I've discovered something new every day. I'm not sure how big Final Fantasy XIV is exactly, but I do know that I haven't even begun to explore its limits. It's made Square Enix's approach to content maintenance enjoyable; even in the latest patch, the XIVteam has been actively updating previous work and smoothing the on-ramp. This is in contrast to other continuing games that may vault or silo away certain material.
I cannot promise that I will continue to play Final Fantasy XIV in a year or two. Fits and spurts are common, and I've played and finally abandoned enough endless games to understand that the initial excitement will pass.However, Final Fantasy XIVfeels as if it was designed to support dipping in and out. Updates happen often enough, however the plot content is mostly simple to follow while more challenging material is included for the die-hard fans.
After a year, I have played Final Fantasy XIV much too much. I'm sure I will continue to do so. Even though I've completed Final Fantasy XIV, I still feel like I haven't seen everything. But at least now I can state with confidence that the trip is worthwhile.
