Though, in Destiny 2, sunsets have officially ceased to exist, The idea is still hanging over the head of the game in 2022 because of its long-term consequences. Notably, Black Armory is at the top of the community's wish list for the restoration of some of the vaulted material from Destiny 2.Introduction's Before Bungie decided on the current, ephemeral seasons for the game, they released Black Armory, a distinctive piece of kinda-sorta seasonal content. In contrast to contemporary seasons (like The Season of the Wish), which are completely eliminated from the game with the release of a new DLC (in this instance, The Final Shape), pre- Some seasons, like Black Armory, persisted for years at a time.Renowned for its incredibly challenging Niobe Labs puzzle and adored for its treasure design and assortment, Black Armory is often mentioned by nostalgic community members as an instance of material that Bungie should revive. However, Bungie has just given the notion lip regard so far.
Players of Destiny 2 want the return of Black Armory
More precisely, the weapon designers at Bungie discussed the potential return of Black Armory DLC back in November of 2022. Paul Tassi captured them saying, "You can expect Black Armory weapons to come back the moment there's a Black Armory story beat or an Ada story beat or something." As we conclude the turbulent year of Lightfall, the story of Ada-1, the leader of Black Armory, has been mostly ignored.Even if it might be tricky to change major story points in order to accommodate a seemingly insignificant community request, it's difficult to deny that Black Armory armor has been requested for years. For example:
“Bungie needs to bring back the Black Armory weapons,” said Wynah 4 months ago.
“Bring Black Armory weapons back into the fold,” said MNneck 10 months ago.
“I’d love to see the Black Armory weapons back,” said Revan_IV a year ago.
“Please bring back Black Armory weapons as craftable weapons,” said Robotic_Hoodini a year ago.
“Having [Black Armory weapons] sunset and removed from the game still to this day makes no sense and IMO is the biggest travesty,” said h34vier 2 years ago.
These Reddit postings have received a lot of upvotes, and people often remark on how they still have outdated Black Armory weaponry around for nostalgic reasons. Funnily enough, Reddit user Renolber was brought up by community members who were longing about Quickplay PvP and the sunset Black Armory pulse weapon.Although it seems to be comprehensive, this collection of threads covering the (potential) reintroduction of Black Armory weaponry to Destiny 2 just touches the surface of the more extensive debates on the subject.
Is Black Armory returning in its ultimate form?
Despite its intriguing nature, hasn't been the best farewell for Destiny 2's well-established seasonal model. With the launch of Episodes, Bungie will be reorienting its approach to seasonal content after the June release of The Final Shape DLC. Thus far, three episodes have been made public: Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy. It is very likely that Black Armory gear will make an appearance in one of these episodes. It will be fascinating to watch how Tyson Green, the new Destiny 2 Game Director, approaches the game's live-service evolution differently than Joe Blackburn did. It's no secret that the game has had a difficult year, with issues appearing almost everywhere. One of Bungie's major setbacks occurred in October 2023, and the corporation ultimately lost a great deal of fan support due to its series of missteps.Even if it would just be a little one, reintroducing Black Armory gear on its own in the wrong context of a completely different seasonal release would be a mistake. However, Bungie may be able to emphasize a higher level of success with the release of The Final Shape if Black Armory weaponry are managed properly and combined with something reasonable and enjoyable for the community.Who knows? Perhaps Bungie wants to bring back Black Armory gear and recreate the fabled Scourge of the Past raid. As most Destiny 1 raids have already been resurrected, gamers would probably be thrilled to see Scourge and Black Armory goods bundled with one of the next Episodes. However, until The Final Shape is released, which is still months away, we can only hope, wonder, and speculate as to what Bungie has planned.
