Dead by Daylight When it was first released in 2016, it swiftly rose to the top of the asymmetrical horror genre's popularity rankings. Each Trial's structure places one Killer against four Survivors, and it has always seemed equitable to balance the Killers' strength with the Survivors' quickness and ability. However, after almost ten years of the game being the same, Behaviour Interactive feels that it's time to change things up.I received an invitation to see the 2v8 time-limited game mode in Dead by Daylight in action prior to its announcement and in-game release on July 25, 2024. Press was given access to recorded video of a party in the game mode, which the creator described as chaotic, crazy joy.The 2v8 mode of Dead by Daylight matches two Killers against eight Survivors, as the name would suggest, but there's much more to it than that. No extras or perks are available. Survivor classes and enhanced Killer skills are what you have instead. For instance, The Wraith may hide Killers from Survivors, even those with class skills, while The Trapper can provide his fellow Killer a speed boost. Currently, this game mode only has five Killers, but Behaviour Interactive is eager to introduce more. Because of the way the Clown debuffs Survivors and enhances Killers, he is very interesting. When we inquired about potential future additions of 2v8-specific Killers, Behaviour Interactive simply said, "Never say never." The developer doesn't want to turn down anything if it's not quite definite, even when it's very improbable. There are four courses available for Survivors. After the final generator is fixed, the Guide, who knows all there is to know about generators, may see the auras of every Survivor. The Medic class allows players to view the auras of wounded Survivors and is naturally focused on mending other Survivors more quickly.Pallets and windows have auras that The Escapist makes known for the Survivors to use during a pursuit. When more Survivors are close by, they may further accelerate their pace. This is very helpful since in the live feed that was presented to us, I watched Survivors fleeing from one Killer and into another. Quick reflexes and an awareness of the location of the next window or pallet might potentially foil the Killer duo's well thought-out trap.Lastly, there's the class called Stealth Survivor. When hurt, they don't say anything, and under certain conditions, they may perceive Killer auras. This lesson brings to light a significant problem with Dead at Dawn There isn't any in-game communication in 2v8. If you're accustomed to just matching with others, the experience is severely slowed down by the need for players to connect via Discord in order to communicate. This doesn't seem like it will change very soon, but it's more of a nice-to-have than a necessary element for this particular game format.Killers still have to sacrifice as many Survivors as they can in order to win a trial, and Survivors have to fix eight of the thirteen generators in order to unlock the gates and go out. Here, the capture process is accelerated since all it takes for a Killer to move a fallen Survivor into a cage is for them to step on them. This is comparable to the power of Pyramid Head.As previously stated, rather than spending too much time pursuing Survivors one-on-one, Killers may collaborate to capture them. Additionally, killers may more effectively monitor Survivors in cages by dividing their time between hunting and guarding, which increases the number of murders.
