The Ranking of the Top 10 Castlevania Games on Switch

The vampire slayer must go back to Dracula's castle to put a stop to his despotism and bloodlust. Dracula has returned. That is the fundamental formula of the Castlevania video games, which have captured the hearts and minds of many fans with their breathtaking gothic settings, massive casts of well-known characters, and genre-defining gameplay.

We're looking at the top Castlevania games available for the Switch in this list. With the exception of one that is available via Nintendo Switch Online, the majority of these games are split between the Castlevania: Anniversary Collection and the Castlevania: Advance Collection.

10. Castlevania: Circle of the Moon

Moon's Circle has a good plot, however the game is hindered by its controls. Nathan Graves can travel with a lot of momentum since he can leap a great distance yet walks slowly. You will still need to double-tap each time you want to run, even if you have the dash boots gear, which you will discover early in the game. But you'll undoubtedly enjoy yourself if you get the hang of the controls. The gothic-style visuals are appropriately gloomy and menacing, and the spells you may cast by gathering monster cards are enjoyable to use, particularly during boss battles.

9. Legends of Castlevania

In contrast to the previous Switch games, Castlevania, Legends is not included in the Advance or Anniversary collections, most likely due to the story's altered timeframe. It was revealed that Sonia Belmont, the main character, was not the first vampire slayer in the Belmont family when Lament of Innocence was published, over six years later.

Mythology "Soul weapons," which provide unique spell abilities and take the place of the franchise's typical sub-weapons, are introduced. But the game also has a "burning mode," which makes Sonia immune to all traps and damage and lets you bypass challenging sections that would typically need for a subweapon nevertheless. A few branching routes that don't lead to anything significant and don't adequately compensate the player for investigating are also there. The game is thus ranked lower on our ranking.

8. Harmony of Dissonance: Castlevania

The vibrant scenery and enigmatic plot of Harmony of Dissonance are the game's standout features. The Vampire Killer whip's successor, Juste Belmont, embarks on a mission to rescue his companion Lydie and discover why his pal Maxim's memories are missing. Just as there are two versions of Maxim, so too are there two versions of the castle that he finds when he explores Dracula's castle.

The two aspects of Dracula's castle are fantastic for narrative, but since they are essentially mirror replicas of one another, exploring them might get monotonous. There are also a few instances when the frantic pace of the music becomes a little annoying. It may also make you want to temporarily disable the music, even if it matches the dissonance concept present in the game's colors and plot.

7. Belmont's Revenge in Castlevania II

The second Game Boy title in the Anniversary collection is Belmont's Revenge . It was a major improvement over the previous Game Boy game Castlevania: The Adventure since player movement was cleaned up and sub-weapons were brought back to the fold.

You may choose which of the four castles in the game to visit first when the game initially launches by choosing from a variety of pathways. To assist distinguish between levels, each area's environmental design has a unique elemental theme, such crystals or plants. Even though it's a simpler and shorter game than several on our list, it's still worth playing again.

6. Dracula X in Castlevania

Richter Belmont takes the lead in the American version of Rondo of Blood, Dracula X. Compared to the GBA games that comprise the remainder of the Advance Collection, the character movement is more akin to the original NES classics. Although Vampire Killer can only be used in two directions, it feels more easier to walk and leap than it did in .Curse of Dracula. The visuals in Dracula X are amazing; there are dynamic flame effects in the backdrop of the first level, stunning translucent water effects later in the game, and some really terrifying and massive monster models. The game's complexity is the only thing keeping Dracula X from ranking higher. Because the combat takes place over a bottomless pit and one strike might send you over the edge, Dracula himself can be especially terrifying.

5. Castlevania

The first Castlevania is still well worth playing today. Despite being linear and following a traditional level-by-level structure, the game is nevertheless enjoyable. A lot of the wonderful elements of the Castlevania series were introduced in the first game, including Simon's fabled "Vampire Killer" whip, famous sub-weapons like the holy water and cross, an amazing soundtrack, and thrilling boss battles with characters like Dracula and Death.

4. Bloodlines of Castlevania

The Bloodlines set against the historical backgrounds and connections to Bram Stoker's Dracula apart from the rest from the beginning. The game was first published on the Sega Genesis, in contrast to other games on this list. With its distinct level design and breathtaking visual effects, the action is superb. One of my favorite set pieces in the series is the level when you ascend the tilting tower to reach the final boss's dizzying apex.

3. Castlevania IV

Super Castlevania IV The tale of the original game is told again, but with brighter visuals, more responsive controls, amazing ambient elements, and eight directions for Simon's whip. It may be the greatest Castellani . game to begin with if you're new to the series, both for the simplicity of gameplay and its timeless plot. It is much simpler to reach foes with the longer whip, which you can also use to swing between platforms in addition to battling.
