The Roads of Chaos two shifts Early Access Date for further refinement

The Early Access date for Streets of Rogue 2 was originally scheduled on August 14 last month, but those plans have now been modified. The sequel to the sandbox roguelite will now be available to everyone in Early Access beginning on October 22.

The explanation for the hold-up is really simple: according per tinyBuild and developer Matt Dabrowski, Streets of Rogue 2 only needs more time to give it more shine. We'll simply have to wait a little longer to give it a try since the statement says that the team is "committed to providing the best experience possible," even at this early stage.

Putting the game through more extensive testing is a part of that polishing process. Regarding the revised release date, Dabrowski notes that "it will also give me time to conduct a large-scale pre-release playtest." He knew this would be "very beneficial to development" from his past experience on the original Streets of Rogue .

Disorderly chaos

The breadth of the original game was already fairly amazing, and it seems like the sequel is going all out in that sense. Dabrowski already mentioned how Streets of Rogue 2 is, exaggerating the chaos created by the procedural to ridiculous levels.

There are a lot of well designed elements included as well, and the extra time this delay provides will probably help that intricate combination. It will be intriguing to see how it all comes together with dozens of character classes and an open environment supposedly over 10,000 times larger than one of the previous game's stages. The aforementioned playtest is open to everyone and is scheduled to begin in "late August or early September." You may register here.
