When it comes to coach creation in College Football 25, the ability to add your Alma Mater makes everything a bit more nostalgic, to say the least.
EA Sports has poured a lot of effort into designing the coach creator. You can fine-tune many details of your coach, which goes beyond mere attributes and abilities. Just like in real life, your created coach will have his name, origin, preferences in terms of playstyles, and more. Let’s take a look at what Alma Mater exactly is and if you should pay any attention to it.
What is Alma Mater in College Football 25 in Dynasty Mode?
The first mention of this term comes on the opening screen while creating a coach. On this screen, you enter the personal details of your coach, and one of those options reads “Alma Mater”. Derived from the phrase “Alma Mater Studiorum”, it’s a tribute to your educational history.
In the game, you can enter where your coach has graduated from. What’s more astonishing is that you can mention any name in that section, including the place from where you might have graduated. It’s a nice touch from EA Sports, as I haven’t found something similar in other sports games from the studio.
How does Alma Mater work in College Football 25?
While I have spent a decent time in my Dynasty mode save, I haven’t found any actual impact of your coach’s Alma Mater in the game. I did expect that my choice may have some form of influence when it comes to recruiting or attracting job offers.
However, that hasn’t been the case so far. In fact, I also didn’t find an instance where another College Football 25 player has found a telling influence of Alma Mater inside the game. But it’s still an excellent addition, and the added touch of personalization is much appreciated.
Moreover, there are plenty of coach attributes that require a lot of attention. As you level your coach up in the Dynasty mode, you’ll need to use points to improve his abilities. This will also unlock additional badges over time, making your life a lot easier.
