Comedy chaos during the Han Dynasty
The first information and screenshots for Arc System Works' impending historical scrapper, Kunio-kun no Sangokushi dayo: Zeiin Shuugou!, have been made public. Currently in production at A Plus Games, the brawler RPG is expected to be around 70% finished. It is scheduled to release on the Switch in December in Japan, and on the PS4 and PC in the spring of 2022.As previously reported, the newest installment in the venerable series is set to depart from its Japanese high school setting and go to Ancient China. It is based on the story Romance of the Three Kingdoms and features action packed with uppercuts and kneesmacking. These leaked images demonstrate A Plus Games' decision to combine vintage Famicom-style sprites with a WayForward-inspired cartoon universe, resulting in a visual aesthetic that pays homage to classic River City Ransoms while still adding a touch of post-2020 refinement. In Kunio-kun no Sangokushi dayo: Zeiin Shuugou! , which is set in the Han Dynasty, Kunio will play the hero Guan Yu, and all of the regular cast members of Kunio-kun will play different roles taken directly from the legendary Sangokushi tales, such as Gouda as Liu Bei and Godai and Zhang Fei. The new sequel will still include everything of Kunio-kun's trademark, open-world, conveyer belt adventure, including shopping, skill improvements, sight-seeing, and loads of funny, fist-throwing action, despite the unconventional setting choice. Make care to scan for hidden passageways and chambers. The Kunio-kun series has experienced a kind of western renaissance in recent years, with the release of River City Ransom Underground, River City Girls and the Double Dragon & Kunio-kun: Retro Brawler Bundle, though no localization has been announced. ArcSys would be wise to promote this oddball new product on western shores, especially because at least two additional games are also scheduled for release in the near future. We will update you!Further screens are available on the official Kunio-kun no Sangokushi dayo: Zeiin Shuugou! website in the interim.
