It's possible that the guardians believed they knew everything. The final growth of brought about by Destiny 2, but it seems like Bungie has a few more surprises in store.A series of upgrades for Iron Banner, one of the game's two PvP events, were revealed by the company. Although Bungie isn't completely redesigning the mode, there will be some significant changes that will affect how players engage with Iron Banner and get rewards.
Along with the Trials of Osiris, Iron Banner is one of the two PvP events in Destiny 2. Iron Banner is usually the least intense of the two, matching bigger teams against one another and without punishing defeat directly, but having undergone several iterations and significant adjustments. The Iron Banner used to dominate Trials of Osiris' regular weekend schedule, lasting for one week two or three times every season, despite years of progress on the mode. That isn't nearly the case now since, among other changes, the mode will be in effect for a longer period of time.
What changes may be seen in Iron Banner?
The main modification to Iron Banner is that it will now take place across two weeks as opposed to only one. In a June 27 This Week in Destiny message, Bungie disclosed this information, stating, "To start, Iron Banner will now be a two-week event and the main PvP focus for that time." Given that Episodes have a longer run time than Seasons previously did, this modified schedule will undoubtedly allow more people to participate in the event.
There won't be any opportunities to switch to a new Iron Banner game type; instead, each week of Iron Banner will concentrate on a particular version of the mode. In direct reaction to Iron Banner's performance and reception during Lightfall, Bungie is concentrating on one game genre at a time. "We experimented with a system in Season 23 that allowed players to choose between Control and the rotating game mode (Fortress, Eruption, or Tribute) whenever Iron Banner was active," said Bungie. Although it was a change from how we had handled the modes before, letting players choose the game mode they wanted to play was a pleasant touch. However, dividing the player pool in half had a detrimental impact on matchmaking speeds and match quality. First week will be Control, and second week will be Tribute for the first Iron Banner in The Final Shape.
Bungie is introducing a few new weapons to the Iron Banner pool, as is customary for a new expansion. Together with the new void fusion weapon Claws of the Wolf, the Crimil's Dagger hand cannon will also undergo a redesign. Bungie is thankfully changing how easy it is to get Iron Banner weaponry with the release of the Tusk of the Boar grenade launcher. "Wins now guarantee a random Iron Banner weapon with a very high chance to award an Iron Banner engram on top of that," the company said. Regarding defeats, the frequency of both weapon and engram drops is increased.
Iron Banner weapons will still need to be earned by players via Saladin's reputation track, but they should be more common once they are.Bungie will continue to track how people react to these adjustments. However, for the time being, gamers are engaged in a two-week Iron Banner celebration.
