As Digital Extremes is mostly focused on Warframe , but it is also continuously working on Soulframe .behind the scenes. Fans were treated to a brand-new gameplay clip at TennoCon 2024, which included several upgrades and new features for Soulframe , the game's early access program.Afterwards this year, preludes.
The fantastic game Soulframe places players in the position of an emissary in a realm influenced by folklore and faerie tales. It's an ARPG with some of the soulslike elements you would anticipate from the genre, but Digital Extremes has given the genre—as well as the game's whole universe—a peculiar twist that makes it seem new, colorful, and alive. The Soulframe demo at TennoCon 2024 examined a new area Soulframe A portion of the game's new opening scene is seen in the preludes, which also include a brand-new NPC for players to acquire and advance with: Prologue of Warsongs.
The demo opened with a brand-new opening, the heartfelt emotional drive of which is unavoidable due to the musical swell. The scene changed from being wet at first to a medieval siege complete with massive laser cannons and men dressed in metal.
We meet the mother of the envoy within the besieged fortress, and we alter her look as the storyteller describes it in a beautiful cadence. This first portion will be expanded upon later, but it shows you how to fully design your character from the beginning of the game.
The actual demo then began, with the Envoy waking up to find themselves in a similarly saturated woodland. They would then click their way to their next target, guiding their summoned bird along a route. Though Soulframe's world may be beautiful, it's far from safe.

Nimrod, a massive armored man with an intimidating lightning rod that like a gigantic steampunk fork, teleports through the lightning to materialize and face the Envoy as thunderclaps and lightning crackle above. Nimrod can repair itself by summoning a lightning bolt and essentially recharging itself, therefore the combat is harsh and one-sided. Its arsenal of strong stabs and AOE electrical assaults isn't much assistance either.
As we follow the Envoy, we see them engage in combat with Nimrod a few times until losing to it. You then need to utilize your bird to fly back to your empty frame and replenish it so that you may rise and battle again, as those who have played Soulframe Preludes are aware. However, Nimrod vanishes. For the time being.
At that moment, the Envoy hears a voice and approaches it. After a brief orchestral segment evoking the Ocarina mechanism from Ocarina of Time, a boulder slides out of the way to expose a water-filled pool in the terrain. This is where Verminia, the Rat Witch, first appears. Nimrod calls out for war once again, and after a short introduction, the Envoy reduces her and gives her an Elixir of Drought.
This time, when the Envoy meets Nimrod, they throw the Elixir into the sky, burning away the clouds and turning the whole weather into a sweltering, bright day. Nimrod is furious since this removes his ability to heal and leaves him vulnerable to all of the Envoy's skills.
The Envoy attacks Nimrod's head with its shield, slashes at his legs with a sword, and then shoots an arrow at its head to end the furious but far less one-sided battle. After victory, we are led to the Nighthold, a location under the earth where the Envoy may go to change their armor and weaponry.
The Ancestors that the players gather reside in this area; each has a workstation, which might be a tent, a blacksmith's forge, or a library. Players may bring materials to Verminia's Brewing Station in order to create beneficial Elixirs.
The use of this Elixir system was not shown, but Verminia's other ability—the ability to alter your Envoy's appearance—was teased. Verminia responds to the many armor alterations and looks that were on display.
At last, Verminia's little rat charges at the Envoy, alerting them of a sinister presence in the world. A massive bear-like monster with two heads where ears or horns could be and a powerful bell hanging off the end of a protrusion that resembles a skull are gradually exposed.
This is a new boss that will soon be available in Soulframe Preludes. With new material like this being released gradually over time, Digital Extremes intends to maintain its fairly regular monthly update schedule.
Before this demo, the creator made it known that Soulframe Preludes will be made available to all users. This means that anybody who is interested may request access, start playing, and participate. TennoCon 2024 attendees were ecstatic at the announcement and demo since they had been patiently waiting for the team to begin work on a fantasy sequel to Warframe.
The team revealed in talks about Soulframe how frightening it was to start developing a new game when Warframe is both very popular and extremely labor-intensive. The whole game production process for Soulframe has been redone, but in retrospect, it seems like they are constructing the game in tandem with the community, which is the proper course of action.
After all, this is how Digital Extremes responded with changes to fan feedback about certain systems, greatly improving Warframe . Soulframe is a game with a lot more positive and cheerful features than Warframe. It may elicit strong emotions with only a visual hint and some music. I'm excited to follow this game's development, and the Digital Extremes community is here to support the developer every step of the way.
