For now, elimination is gone
With the elimination of the Elimination mode in Trials of Osiris, Bungie is removing a Destiny 2 community mainstay. There is now a new game mode called Dominion in Season 21 of Destiny 2 in its stead. This provides a free-form, objective-style experience that functions similarly to a combination of Control and Elimination.Dominion has three capture points, much as Control. To begin collecting time and points toward victory, the two competing teams will try to take control of at least two of these points. This time, there's a catch, however. The other team is unable to respawn after they have scored two of the three points. The losing team then needs to win two points to rescue itself, making it a game of cat and mouse that is akin to elimination.
The most plausible explanation for the move from Destiny 2 to Dominion
Giving players additional choices in Trials of Osiris is one probable explanation for this modification. Players had little flexibility in the Team-Deathmatch-style experience that Elimination delivered. The optimal classes and builds for this mode were narrowed down to a few choices.Elimination had a straightforward structure: eliminate the other three-person team before they eliminate your team. This made for a competitive yet constrained gaming experience since each round only allowed one life. Elimination did have a capture point, but it didn't really alter much beyond a certain point if no team had won. Some teams would even just camp out until overtime in an attempt to win the game.The Trials of Osiris game mode significantly accelerates the story. The objective-based approach makes it possible for subclasses and more distinctive constructions to emerge. Furthermore, it is not really possible for you to camp too much or you will probably lose the round.For the foreseeable future, Dominion will be the new game mode. To get the most prizes, try to win up to seven consecutive random Dominion matchups.
