For a video game, at least, Freaked Fleapit has a straightforward concept. Andy passed away and entered Hell. He must battle through nine circles of Hell in order to get his soul back. He may choose one of the stylized anime beauties who just so happen to be present to accompany him in his escape attempt by chatting with them in the meantime.
With its randomly generated levels and exploration system, Fleapit seeks to lure players in with the promise of hidden passageways, side missions, and minigames. The chance to propose a date to the player's favorite "Lady of the Fleapit" arises via side missions. Then there is the fighting.
Players of Freaked Fleapit tap in time with the game's rhythm, and creator Finch Bird Studio has often praised the Multilayered Music System, which works in a way reminiscent of Crypt of the Necrodancer. In addition, the soundtrack changes dynamically according to the sort of area and conflict the player is in.
