What was once a little additional feature in the 2008 video game Call of Duty: World at War has grown to become a worldwide sensation. The Zombies mode in Call of Duty is a mainstay of the series, boasting intricate mythology, an expansive multiverse, different maps, and a plethora of now-iconic unique characters. Not to add that a number of well-known visitors have joined in on the zombie-killing fun. Some well-known pop culture icons have momentarily joined the mode, but Tank Dempsey (Steve Blum), Dr. Edward Richtofen (Nolan North), and Samantha Maxis (Julie Nathanson) have been the main drivers of the mode from game to game. Just in Treyarch's titles, actors such Malcolm McDowell, Jeff Goldblum, the late Ray Liotta, and others have appeared in the mode. Both Call of Duty: WWII and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare from Sledgehammer Games include famous guest stars.Every celebrity appearance in the Call of Duty Zombies lineage has been entertaining, but some are more unique and notable than others. These are the top five offerings from the Treyarch series to date.
5. Helena Bonham-Carter as Madame Mirela
In Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, the game Dead of the Night transports players to the manor of renowned archaeologist Alistair Rhodes (Charles Dennis), where a variety of supernatural beings pose a threat to everyone in the room. Christina Fowler, nicknamed Madame Mirela, as spoken and performed by Helena Bonham-Carter, appears with Gideon Jones (Kiefer Sutherland), Jonathan Warwick (Brian Blessed), and Godfrey (Charles Dance). She gives a strong vocal performance in this instance, and given her background in entertainment, she was a natural choice for the Zombies mode.Taking on strange and macabre themes has become a vocation for Bonham-Carter. Her filmography is filled with titles like Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Corpse Bride, Alice in Wonderland, and more. Not only was she Tim Burton's love companion once, but she is also one of his most frequent collaborators. In order to get the perfect performance for her Dead of the Night part, Bonham-Carter took great pride in the role of Mirela. She told CinemaBlend that she personally worked on the character's dialect and channeled Mrs. Lovett, her Sweeney Todd character.
4. Floyd Campbell, played by Ron Perlman
First up was Treyarch's most recent celebrity-loaded map for the Zombies mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Shadows of Evil is set in the decaying, haunted city of Morgue City, where shady locals would stop at nothing to advance in their lives. Floyd Campbell is a former boxer who is prepared to murder to succeed in his career. He is one of these people. He ultimately pays the price for his deceitful strategies. Ron Perlman's distinctive looks and deep voice are perfect for the weathered journeyman boxer.Like Bonham-Carter, Perlman is used to bizarre, otherworldly imaginary worlds. Strange is the name of the game in filmmaker Guillermo del Toro's films, which feature him heavily from Cronos to Hellboy. The City of Lost Children, a weird French fantasy film featuring Perlman as a carnival strongman One has an aesthetic that is akin to that of Shadows of Evil. Nobody could portray Campbell quite like Perlman, which was further reinforced by the fact that he told IGN he had always wanted to play a boxer in some capacity.
3. Joe Pantoliano in Arlington as Al "The Weasel"
Among the greatest Zombies, if not the greatest map as of right now, in Call of Duty: Black Ops IIFour mobsters are seen in Mob of the Dead trying to flee Alcatraz Island on a crudely constructed aircraft. Not only are they failing, but they are also stuck in a temporal loop where they must repel never-ending waves of zombies, perish, and keep failing again for all eternity. Al "The Weasel" Arlington, perfectly voiced by Joe Pantoliano, is the brains behind their first escape scheme. As the MVP of Mob of the Dead, Pantoliano stands out among a cast full of legendary figures from the criminal genre. The actor from Matrix, Sopranos, and Bad Boys was a great option to highlight Weasel's shy and insecure yet creative and clever nature. The fact that the character only reappears as a bird in spirit form in Blood of the Dead of Black Ops 4 is simply too unfortunate, since it will deny Pantoliano another opportunity to play the character.
2. The first Call of Duty Zombies map with a celebrity cast is Danny Trejo as Himself
Call of the Dead from Call of Duty: Black Ops I, and it goes all out. Robert Englund, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Michael Rooker must battle hordes of zombies in the middle of Siberia after their horror movie set is invaded. With his trademark machetes in hand, Danny Trejo joins them to slay the approaching zombies. The material is excellent for all four performers, but Trejo elevates it beyond recognition. It would be a vast understatement to suggest that the Machete and From Dusk Till Dawn actor adds energy and passion to the project. Trejo gave his best throughout his lines, adding humor and a lot of badassness to go along with his role model's tattoos and weaponry. While he isn't a big gamer, it's obvious that the actor had a lot of love for the project when he spoke with XboxViewTV about his experience working on Call of the Dead back in 2011.
George A. Romero in his own right
For Call of the Dead, let's not forget who directed the movie that Trejo, Rooker, Englund, and Gellar were working on at the time of the zombie ambush. That individual was none other than George A. Romero, who, in the opening sequence, is overrun by zombies and transforms into one himself. He roams the map with a stage light in his hand and a ton of one-liners during the game. Romero will go into a frenzy and chase you with his preferred weapon if you enrage him. In summary, he is the most appropriate person to appear in a Call of Duty map.Romero is solely accountable for creating the contemporary perception of a zombie via groundbreaking movies such as Dawn of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead. He is still an inspiration to the horror genre and those that work in it, even years after his passing in 2017. Without Romero, Zombies would not exist, therefore it is only fitting that the brilliant filmmaker was featured in what has grown to be one of the mode's most cherished levels. For those who don't know, Romero's trademark spectacles are positioned on a table in Black Ops 4's Tag Der Toten, a Call of the Dead remake. This is an homage to the guy who blazed the way, as well as a fun Easter egg for Call of the Dead.
