In December 2020, Stardew Valley got update 1.5 on PC and consoles, along with a fully developed new island named Ginger Island. Trust me, there's a lot of stuff to do on Ginger Island. The 1.6 update of March 2024 has several new features, so now is a better time than ever to locate paradise.
Once you've made your name for yourself, Ginger Island is almost your home away from home. To go there, you'll first need to finish the Community Center package, or the corresponding JojaMart questline if you're a Stardew Valley player with a wild side.
This implies that if you're a new player and haven't completed the game's "main quest," there may be a lot of setup. If so, there isn't a lot of additional labor.
But believe me, Ginger Island is one of the nicest areas of Stardew Valley, so it's worth the effort.
In Stardew Valley
When your Community Center bundles or JojaMart payments are complete, Willy will write you a note stating that he has opened the Fish Shop's rear room, if that's your thing. Please be patient as it may take up to two days for the letter to arrive. This mysterious black door within the store wasn't useful before version 1.5, but it's now your pass to Ginger Island. An antique boat that needs repair is located in the unlocked area of the Fish Shop. In Stardew Valley, as is often the case, your work is far from over. You'll need to collect quite a few materials, each requiring some labor, in order to make the boat operational. Without fixing the boat, there's no other means to get to Ginger Island, so buckle up—this might take some time.Five Bars of Iridium
These are necessary to secure the boat's anchor; otherwise, you would float straight past Ginger Island, and no one likes to watch paradise ebb and flow away. There are many methods available for obtaining these:- By placing 5 Iridium Ore and 1 Copper into a Furnace. Iridium Ore can be found while exploring the Mines or breaking rocks within the Quarry
- Golden Fishing Chests
- Possible drops from the following monsters:
- Shadow Shaman (0.2%)
- Shadow Brute (0.2%)
- Iridium Bat (0.8%)

- Iridium Golems
- The Statue of Endless Fortune has a 25% chance to drop one Iridium Bar every day, as long as it isn’t a villagers birthday

- Purchased from Maru at the Desert Festival for 50 Calico Eggs each
Five
battery packsIf you haven't mended the machine that will get you your ticket to Ginger Island, there's no use in mending the boat. Fortunately, obtaining the five battery packs required to repair the ticket machine is not too difficult:- Created by Lightning Rods during a thunderstorm
- Created by a Solar Panel after seven sunny days
- Occassionally sold at the Traveling Cart for between 1,500 and 2,500 Gold
- Possible drop from Iridium Bats (5%)
