It's not simple to find the optimal FPS for the Steam Deck. It's been established in our must-play RPG shortlist for the Steam Deck that Valve's portable PC isn't a gadget that works for everyone. Which first-person shooter games work well with the Steam Deck?
Look no farther than Bethesda's Starfield to see the greatest example of the problems involved in selecting the appropriate game for the Deck. Although it is feasible to run Starfield on the Deck in a rather pleasurable manner, the experience isn't quite perfect. In order to get a playable 30 frames per second, users must drastically reduce the settings, which also drastically reduces battery life. Getting the newest AAAs to perform well on the Deck is a difficult task.
We made the virtually complete decision to ignore the state of the market while selecting the finest first-person shooter games for the Deck. Rather, we've been reliving past titles and some more forgiving modern games. Our intention was to provide you with fast-paced first-person shooter games that are enjoyable to play on the Deck, ideally slower than the typical twitch shooter, and simple to set up.
The Top 10 Steam Deck First-Person Shooter games
#10: Evil Village Resident
By this point, everyone knows that Capcom's RE Engine is virtually black sorcery. Not actually, of course, but all the games created on it are really powerful. While maintaining the slower pace of the series, the first-person shooter Resident Evil games are now quite excellent in their own right. Village merited being included on this list. RE: Village On Deck Runs and looks fantastic, and its more deliberate gameplay loop distinguishes it from other of the speedier games on our list. Additionally, Deck users may maintain a steady 30 or 40 frames per second limitation instead of the customary 60.
#9: (2017) Prey
Suggested to be the most immersive simulation game that Arkane Studios has ever created, Prey is more of a first-person adventure game with puzzle-solving components than a shooter. Nevertheless, there is a good deal of shooting, and Valve's portable PC handles the whole experience well. As Prey is as far away from twitch shooters as it gets, we'd advise capping it at 40 FPS instead of striving for a nearly locked 60 FPS on the Deck. You'll also receive a considerably longer battery life, so you can spend more time fiddling with the Talos station!
#8: Disgraceful
The even older is the second Arkane Studios offering on this list.Betrayed. Its stylized visuals have allowed it to age like good wine, earning it widespread critical praise as one of the greatest games of all time. Also, it is much more battery-friendly and very efficient than its replacement, which is an excellent title in and of itself. Disgraced plays incredibly well on the Deck, and we suggest playing it while on the move for those who haven't got an opportunity.
Borderlands 3
is #7.We decided on Borderlands 3 in the end, even though almost all the Borderlands games do function rather well on the Deck. Including a looter-shooter was an essential for our list. The explanation for this is straightforward: while previous editions in the series perform somewhat better, the combat gameplay in Borderlands 3 is far superior than those of its two principal predecessors. However, you can easily get a fixed 40 FPS on the Deck, and although though the battery life won't be fantastic, we thought the excellent gunplay was well worth the extra power.
Titanfall 2
(#6)As absurd as it may seem on the surface, given the pace at which the game plays, Titanfall 2 has proven to be an excellent match for the greatest first-person shooter on Steam Deck. First and foremost, every first-person shooter enthusiast should play its fantastic campaign mode. However, with to Respawn Entertainment's excellent gamepad compatibility, playing the game on the Deck is just as enjoyable as using a standard mouse and keyboard. While the multiplayer aspect of Titanfall 2 is a little problematic, overall the Deck experience of the game is excellent, which is why it made the list.

#4: On the Deck, Doom (2016)
Doom Eternal does, in fact, function rather effectively. We decided to include Doom from 2016.Placed on this list instead because to the battle loop's simplicity in the game. In contrast, Eternal compels the user to master its unique style of blood ballet, what with switching out guns and everything, Doom is, in that regard, far more clear-cut and basic. In our opinion, Eternal is the better option for mouse-and-keyboard gameplay, but it just seems like a better match on the Deck.

Deep Rock Galactic Deep Rock Galactic is more than simply a superb illustration of a well-executed live-service game. It's also one of the greatest first-person shooters you can play on Steam Deck! Yes, endgame-tier raids are possible can. get quite chaotic if you're used to playing DRG. use a mouse, yet the game runs well on the Deck and all of its entertaining gameplay loop seems perfectly suited for the device. You can anticipate excellent performance, long battery life, and a plenty of content.
#2: Portal 2
We'll agree that it's a bit of a cop-out, but Portal 2 and Portal are essentially designed for the Deck. In particular, we chose Portal 2 because the first one seems a little bit like a proof of concept, while the second one is a completely realized experience. On the Deck, it feels and works well, but because of its puzzle-focused gameplay, even players who have never played a shooter with a gamepad before will have plenty of time to respond to the current scenario.
