The Guilty Gear Strive anime has gotten its first trailer, but we always knew it was coming. 2025 will see the release of Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers.
Since the first game, I've played a good deal of the Guilty Gear series. More than, instance, Mortal Kombat, but not as much as Street Fighter. Furthermore, I still don't know what they're meant to be about. I can see all of the individual interactions, which are excellent, but I don't understand the larger story. This trailer is much more devoid of context.
This is a summary of the tale that was included:
"After science and technology, previously thriving disciplines, began to falter, a new energy source known as magic emerged to drive the modern period. Humanity develops Gears, biological weapons that are prohibited. At some point, those Gears revolt against mankind. Despite coming out on top in the battle for existence known as the Crusades, mankind suffers such severe losses that their psychological scars don't completely heal even after decades have passed. The human-Gear hybrid Sin Kiske is on his way to his mother Dizzy's and father Ky's wedding. The marriage of a human and a Gear breaches the greatest taboo. Such a ceremony took several years to materialize, even in an era of international peace. The wedding ceremony is greeted with blessings despite the wide range of difficult emotions that surround it. Then all of a sudden, a mystery female shows there. The mystery female who hates Gears and the destined kid that will inherit Gear blood. The globe would tremble at their encounter.
Alright, given the context of the series, I believe I understand it rather well. However, I don't want to test it further since I would probably be mistaken. Perhaps this series will be just what I need to get the story to all fully click for me. Or maybe I could go into the narrative mode of Guilty Gear Strive rather than only relying on Arcade.
Anyway, Shigeru Morikawa is directing and Sanzigen is producing the series. The planned date is 2025.
