Sunsoft has revealed that \i>Ikki Unite, which was released on the PC in February 2023, will make its Switch debut in North America early in 2024. In 2023, Japan will get it a little sooner.
Ikki Unite is a rather peculiar one. It is based on an arcade game from 1985 that was also released on the Famicom the same year. One of Japan's "kusoge no densetsu," or "legendary crappy game," is the Famicom version. But \i>Ikki Unite has a lot more in common with \i>Vampire Survivors than it does with trying to recreate the despised gameplay of the 1985 "classic." More specifically, it has to do with boosting your auto-firing strikes and fighting off swarms of creatures. The main snag is that there are 16 players online.
When \i>Ikki Unite was first launched on the PC, I played a little of it. Although it was unreliable and clumsy at the time, it was enjoyable. Since then, Sunsoft has patched it many times, and I've been meaning to check in again to see whether they improved the experience. I remember it being a really hectic era for me, so I didn't have a chance to invest much time into it, but the roguelite multiplayer gameplay simply sounded sort of exciting to me at the time.
Although there aren't much specifics yet about the Switch version, Sunsoft has said that it will be fully cross-playable with the existing PC version. That is a significant matter. Such a specialized game's player base shouldn't be split up.You can play Ikki Unite on a PC right now. Switch will get it at some point in the early months of 2024.
