While all of the players in UEFA's Euro 2024 football competition are donning the newest and best cleats during games, Jasir Asani of Albania has captured the attention of gamers worldwide with his unique Super Mario-themed footwear.
Asani plays club football for Gwangju FC in South Korea. He was wearing teal Puma boots with a picture of Mario on his left foot. Mario's red helmet and mustache are easily identifiable. Coins are flying all around him as he leaps into the air while holding his fist aloft.
It should come as no surprise that Luigi was shown leaping with delight on his right foot, and that extra gold coins were hidden inside both boots to demonstrate the brothers' triumph.
Swithadot created the boots, and it's obvious they had an impact since on June 19, Asani provided the assist for Albania's first goal in a 2-2 tie with Croatia. Asani obviously loves the team and expressed his devotion on one of the largest football venues.
And with a brand-new game in the series unveiled at June 18's Nintendo Direct, there's never been a better moment to do it. In Brothership, Mario and Luigi meet for the first time in nine years. The teaser showcases the new environment, mini-games played between combat, and the timeless platforming experience we anticipate from Nintendo's flagship title.
On November 7, Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood will be available on the Nintendo Switch globally. As the K League 1 comes to an end, let's hope Asani gets time to play it.
