The DC Universe job that Jon Hamm declined to take on has been confirmed.

The actor most recognized for playing Green Lantern in the Mad Men series, Jon Hamm, has recently disclosed that he has repeatedly turned down offers from Warner Bros. to appear in their DC movies. Rather, the actor repeatedly made the offer to play a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to Marvel Studios.

The actor said he "definitely didn't want to do" a Green Lantern part for DC in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Rather than name the character specifically, Hamm said that he was excited to be a member of the MCU. When Hamm asked Marvel Studios whether they intended to adopt a specific comic book, the company acknowledged that they were in fact giving it some thought. The actor has high hopes for the pitch to Marvel Studios.

Additionally, Jon Hamm discussed how he aspires for his career to follow Jeff Goldblum's path, emphasizing how the actor always steals the show when he makes a cameo in a Marvel film. In Thor: Ragnarok, Goldblum portrayed The Grandmaster, the MCU character in charge of Sakaar.

Regarding the Green Lantern part, Hamm was alluding to the 2011 film Green Lantern, which finally featured Ryan Reynolds in the character of Hal Jordan. Reynolds, along with DC fans, swiftly moved on from the film, even teasing himself with a witty jab at his choice to portray Green Lantern in the Deadpool 2 post-credit scene.

Back then, Hamm also wasn't a big fan of the DC films. Back in 2015, he told GQ that despite the studio pursuing him "pretty hard for Green Lantern," he was only able to respond with a "meh" because, it seemed, they were no longer making the kinds of films he was interested in.
