You may encounter some things in Zenless Zone Zero that have the term "Attribute Counter effect" included in the item description. This is all you need to know about Attribute Counter effects since, despite the fact that most things in the game are explained well, there is a strange absence of good instruction about them.
What does Zenless Zone Zero's Attribute Counter effect mean?
A blow to a certain attribute that results in an adversary with a weakness yields Arrtibute Counter effects. To be clear, "Attribute" in this context refers to an Agent's type. For instance, when Rina uses her Electric Attribute assaults against a robotic opponent, she has an Attribute Counter since she is an Electric Attribute Agent. While this inevitably leads to robots suffering greater damage from Rina's assaults and seeing a spike in anomaly build-up, certain objects, such the Unfettered Game Ball W-Engine, in response to this Attribute Counter, initiate their actions, producing an Attribute Counter effect.
For a more precise illustration, consider the Unfettered Game Ball. According to its description, all Agents provide a twelve-second CRIT RATE benefit to all targets that have an Attribute Counter effect activated against them. The Unfettered Game Ball's effect will activate and all of your active Agents will get the CRIT RATE benefit if Rina uses it to strike a robot adversary with any of her Electric assaults.
Because there doesn't seem to be a clear sign that an Attribute Counter impact has happened, using the mechanism is a little trickier. Fortunately, I've only come across a small number of specific uses for it in Zenless Zone Zero.
