Nintendo Switch is the battlefield for feudal warfare
APlus Games, the developer, and Arc System Works have revealed the Japanese release date for the upcoming Kunio-kun/River City game. On December 16, River City Saga: Three Kingdoms will be released on the Switch platform. Regretfully, we are now awaiting confirmation or even a release date for a western translation.
River City Saga: The Three Kingdoms, or, to give it its full title, Kunio-kun no Sangokushi dayo: Zeiin Shuugou!, , was first announced in September of this year. It is a somewhat tongue-in-cheek adaptation of the fable "Sangokushi," which is probably better known to westerners as the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The narrative has been adjusted to fit the iconic ensemble, adorable aesthetic, and penchant for comedic turmoil, drag-out, and knockdown of Kunio-kun. The new game has the classic 2D look of the scrolling brawler series, but it has been given a contemporary makeover thanks to improved graphics, intricate narrative storytelling, and character development elements. If we saw River City Saga: The Three Kingdoms, I wouldn't be shocked. making its way westward soon, because games like River City Girls and Double Dragon & Kunio-kun: Retro Brawler Bundle are helping the Kunio-kun series experience somewhat of a comeback on these shores. Alongside River City Girls Zero and River City Girls 2 As The Three Kingdoms is already in the works, it would be prudent to attempt to get it into the hands of people in the west. There's a PS4 and PC version planned for the spring of 2022, so maybe in the new year there will be some updates about translation.
On December 16 [Gematsu], River City Saga: The Three Kingdoms will be released on the Switch.
