Today, Suplice Raycasts its way to early PC access.

GZOh, it seems nice.

This one almost got by me, but I'm pleased our community is watching out for one other. Supplice , a retro-engine first-person shooter, is now available on Steam Early Access.

Supplice is the newest first-person shooter, created by modders and based on the GZDoom engine, which aims to transport you back to a time when 3D was formed entirely of polygons and enemies waited to explode.

The first episode of five objectives for Supplice is now available for Early Access thanks to developer Mekworx. Until the project is finished, they plan to release a new episode every two to three months. Although \i>Supplice was first conceived as a complete conversion of \i>Doom, it has been in development for 14 years. The group became ambitious and determined it was time to separate as a stand-alone product.

After watching a little clip from the teaser, I was able to identify the Doom engine's disproportionate head bob. GZDoom is built on the basis of that vintage engine, which makes it feasible to use strategies that were unthinkable in the past. In addition to \i>Supplice, an independent game named \i>Selaco is also using the engine to produce something that is both recognizable and distinct.

I believe it's fantastic that developers are starting to use the old raycasting engines again since I adore them. They are undoubtedly more limited than your average polygonal 3D engine, but they possess a unique quality that is hard to match. As games like \i>Ion Fury\/i> have shown some affection for Ken Silverman's Build Engine, I hope to see more of it in the future. Supplice is now available on PC via Steam Early Access.
