bringing the past to life and giving it a hard time
The opening film for Arc System Works's intriguing, even doubtful new brawler River City Saga: The Three Kingdoms was released. The works of traditional Chinese literature will be reinterpreted in a cutesy, ass-kicking Kunio-kun style. As of right now, the peculiar new game is anticipated to debut on the Nintendo Switch in December, followed by the PS4 and PC in the spring of 2022.
As previously documented, The Three Kingdoms in River City Saga will adapt the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, an old Chinese legend that may be more familiar to Westerners as "Sangokushi." A polished version of the nautical story, River City Saga will star well-known characters from the Kunio-kun world as its main protagonists. The reboot will include the series' signature knock-down, drag-out brawls along with complex RPG features and narrative storytelling. Think of it as a cultural lecture with a lot more piledrivers and roundhouse kicks.
Previously published screens highlight the opportunity ArcSys is providing for a retro/modern fusion The look of River City Saga is classic 2D action with sprites reminiscent of the Famicom era, but with a more modern gloss. Along with the upcoming releases of River City Girls Zero and River City Girls 2 in 2022, River City Saga: Three Kingdoms is one of several Kunio-kun titles in development. These three new sluggers are currently being prepared for the 35th anniversary celebrations of the series.
