On rating websites, Quake Remastered appears before of this weekend's QuakeCon.

Today marks the start of QuakeCon 2021

[Revision: As reported by Gematsu, the Korea Game Rating and Administration Committee has published its own listing for a Quake Remastered,.]

QuakeCon, the venerable fan gathering centered around id Software's renowned shooter series, kicks off today. And based on VGC's observation, the ESRB ratings website just removed a new listing for an undisclosed new game in the Quake series, thus it seems that the celebrations have started a bit early than anticipated.

The brief description of the ESRB listing for "Quake" describes players as scavengers in a medieval setting full of terrifying monsters and other fantastical creatures that they must fight off with a variety of explosive weapons, such as the game's well-known nail gun. It does sound a lot like Quake. The listing doesn't include nearly enough information to determine whether the new title is just a remaster/remake of the 1996 original or a whole new relaunch, such as Doom from 2016. This is not the first hint that there was going to be more mayhem; a QuakeCon listing that has since been removed also revealed details of a "revitalized" Quake experience.

We will definitely get answers to these queries throughout the course of the weekend, as the QuakeCon starts live today. Aside from news and revelation, QuakeCon (which is being held in an online capacity once again) will include interviews, art competitions, retrospectives, online tournaments, and much more. The official QuakeCon website has the event schedule in full, and you can watch all the action on a number of official Twitch feeds.

When the mystery new Quake title is officially revealed, we'll be sure to let you know. It would be wise to stock up on screws.
